SUMMER ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES

  • Resource Page- Summer Fun
  • Food and Nutrition Services will be offering  free breakfast and lunch meals to any child 18 years and younger.  No documentation is required, adults may pick up meals without children present, kids do not need to be a DPS student nor a Denver resident
  • DU Basketball Camp (Grades K-6)

  • Access To Learning
    • Khan Academy – providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere.
    • Khan Academy Kids – Free, fun educational program for children ages 2-8.
    • Scholars Unlimited provides comprehensive summer learning programs to underserved elementary school students and include breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
    • Denver Library – read, play, and learn with your local library
    • Sora – Online access to E-books and Audio Books from DPS Library and Denver Public Library.
    • Arapahoe Libraries – virtual learning events for kids
    • School House – Free peer-to-peer tutoring for students ages 13+.
    • TED Ed – Educational Video-based Lessons for Students
    • Varsity Tutors – They have many free online classes conducted by celebrities and catered for all different age groups. 
    • Always Choose Adventures – A nonprofit that organizes lots of fun activities, they have a sub-club aimed at families with school-aged kids
    • NASA kids club
  • Basic Needs
    • Food
      • Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids – free snack pickup at Hampden Library every Tue/Thu from 10am – 6pm
      • Denver Community Fridge – Refrigerators/pantries placed around the metro area. Free food of all kinds from non-perishable pantry items to milk, chesses, prepared meals. Stocked by community members and often overflowing
      • Food Bank
      • Joy’s Kitchen – At Joy’s Kitchen all are welcome and all are valued and loved. By working together we have the tangible ability to feed one another more than food.
      • Metro Caring – As Colorado’s leading anti-hunger organization, we work with our community to meet people’s immediate need for nutritious food, while building a movement to address the root causes of hunger.

      • Discovery Link
      • Colorado Child Care Assistance Program
    • Diapers/Goods
      • Weecycle – recycles essential baby gear for families in need and provides free diapers
    • Health Care
      • Integrated Pediatric Health Care – Holistic Healthcare with a variety of services (wellness, sick child, behavioral health, and more). Located across the street from Southmoor Park.
    • Internet Access
      • Internet Essentials – low cost internet for eligible households
      • DPS Parent Essentials for Technology
      • Check with your internet provider about how to apply for discounted rates if you are part of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
      • Check with your internet provider about enrolling in Lifeline, which offers $9.25 off per month to eligible households

  • Social/Emotional Health
      • Counseling Services – Clinic designed to support and offer counseling services to adults, adolescents, children, couples, families, and groups with personal, family, career, educational, and other life concerns.

      • My Denver Card – your free library and recreation card all in one
      • Denver’s Youth Program Locator – search for virtual and in-person programs that lead to kids staying safe, active and engaged this summer. Easily customize your search to meet your needs and find your child’s next fun adventure!
      • DPS Summer Academy Enrichment – no- cost afternoon program for students attending Summer Academy.
      • Boys and Girls Club Summer Programs
